Job Description POSITION TITLE:
Maintenance Technician IIPOSITION PURPOSEPerforms routines and emergency maintenance on machines and equipment, diagnosing source(s) of problems or potential problems and maintains or repairs as needed.
Fabricates, installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment.
Performs various maintenance skills and duties to meet all applicable codes and requirements (including plumbing, welding, carpentry, preventive maintenance and electrical).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS- References work order or consults supervisor to determine nature of machine/equipment problem or repair.
Diagnoses situation or problem, plans/schedules course of action necessary to prevent breakdown, and makes necessary repairs or improvements to machines/equipment.
- Dis-assembles, repairs, adjusts, reworks, rebuilds, or replaces mechanical equipment to achieve desired results.
- Fabricates, modifies, and repairs machinery and equipment using Mig, Tig, and Arc welding skills and metal-forming equipment, working with or without written instructions, blueprints (may include geometric tolerances), sketches, or diagnostic skills, ensuring timely and efficient repair.
- Performs machine and equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance duties determined by manual maintenance schedules, computerized systems, or diagnostic skills, ensuring equipment remains in good working order.
- Installs, removes, and relocates machinery and equipment working from written instructions, blueprints, and sketches to support plant and company goals.
- Assists maintenance skilled trades members as required.
- Maintains current knowledge and skills in all general maintenance crafts and duties including plumbing, welding, carpentry, basic machine repair, basic electrical repairs, painting, small tool repair and material handling equipment repair.
- Maintains user knowledge of all maintenance equipment and test instruments including material handling equipment, man lifts, voltage testers, small tools, welders, and fabrication equipment.
- Operates personal computer (PC), via keyboard/mouse, to create and complete work requests, work orders, and purchase order requests; source parts from tool crib; and obtain historical work order information.
- Frequently contacts suppliers to gather information and/or review product offerings.
- Climbs ladders and/or machinery, stoops, crouches, twists, kneels, crawls, and walks to access the repair area while carrying or moving tools and repair parts including overhead and floor-to-waist lifting of materials weighing over 60 pounds.
- Operates maintenance equipment including company vehicles, material handling equipment, and man lifts to heights of 60 feet.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation- High school education or equivalent.
- Trade school classes preferred.
- Continuing education will be required to remain current with changes in technology and code requirements.
- Must have and maintain mechanics hand tools and tools required by crafts.
- Must obtain and maintain valid powered vehicle license and State of Mississippi driver-s license.
Work Experience- Five years maintenance-related experience in crafts and skills of maintenance position.
Skills and Knowledge- Knowledge of current codes and requirements of crafts.
- Must be able to read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, color codes, manuals, and tables.
- Ability to use PC and keyboard/mouse.
